Cooperating Oncology Group of the Vysočina Region
Welcome to the website of the Cooperating Oncology Group of the Vysočina Region
The purpose of the Cooperating Oncology Group (COG) is to create a network of health care facilities caring for cancer patients. These facilities have decided to adopt common rules and procedures for the treatment of cancer patients, which they share, evaluate and adapt according to the latest scientific knowledge. They are subject to a single professional leadership represented by expert working groups. They monitor and evaluate procedures and compare treatment results, share professional and technical resources and experience. The aim of the cooperation is to ensure the best possible care in these difficult cases for the citizens of the Vysočina Region. An integral part of this procedure is multidisciplinary cooperation in determining the examination and treatment procedure in the so-called multidisciplinary indication committees (MICs). Nowadays, it is no longer conceivable that the fate of a patient with a cancer diagnosis should be decided independently by a physician of a single specialty. It is always a question of cooperation and the view of several specialties and the effort to find the best treatment for the individual. For the patient, this means that no matter where they enter the network, they will always receive the best possible treatment available.
COG of the Vysočina Region serves as a pilot project of good practice in the organisation of oncological care in comparable regions of the European Union.
